The London City of Westminster is located East of Heathrow airport a distance of 18 miles that would take around 30 minutes by taxi via the M4 and A4. It is an inner London borough and has a population of 219,600 according to 2011 statistics.

The City of Westminster was created in 1965 with the merging of the boroughs of Westminster, Paddington, and St. Marylebone. Westminster originally was an Island above the ill-drained Thames marshes and evidence shows that an early Roman settlement had existed there. In the mid 11th century Edward the Confessor had begun to construct the church that later became Westminster Abbey he had also built a Palace that would guarantee the seat of Government would be fixed at Westminster, a fire had later destroyed most of the Palace in 1834 and consequently meant the building of the current Houses of Parliament. It is a multiculturally diverse area of London due to the large numbers of foreign communities who had arrived there from the 17th Century onwards.

Westminster is a prime tourist location due to the number of historically important buildings and landmarks situated within its boundaries. Some sites include Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.
